Cara’s Designer Dream

Create a Custom Dress at Lily Pulitzer®
Seventeen-year-old Cara from Nottingham, Md. loves bright colors and bold patterns, so it’s no surprise she’s a fan of designer Lilly Pulitzer®. When Cara found out she was eligible to have a wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of the Mid-Atlantic, Inc., she knew exactly what she wanted. Cara wished to create a dress with the designers at Lilly Pulitzer.
To turn her wish into a reality, Cara traveled to the headquarters of Lilly Pulizter in King of Prussia, Pa. with her family. The team at Lilly welcomed her with open arms and Cara even met the company’s president & CEO. After learning how an idea transforms from a sketch and a swatch of fabric into an article of clothing, Cara got to try her hand at designing. Cara’s Lilly Pulitzer original design — a white, pink and green strapless dress with an empire waist — will be made into two dresses; one for Tara and one to be auctioned off to benefit the Foundation.
Cara’s day wasn’t over after she finished her design. Cara was able to fit in some shopping at the store and her friends at Lilly made sure she didn’t go home empty handed! Since her return home, Cara has kept in touch with everyone at Lilly and has even been offered an internship with the company next year when she goes to college.
